Active Youth in Happy Europe (AMUSE) is a youth non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to fostering healthy lifestyles, inclusion, and quality leisure activities for young people. AMUSE focuses on social inclusion, diversity, and youth sport work, emphasising non-formal education, intercultural dialogue, and the “sport for all” methodology to create a more inclusive society.

Key aims of AMUSE’s work are to:

  • Promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage young people to participate in regular physical activity through the “sport for all” concept.
  • Improve opportunities for quality leisure time by engaging youth in meaningful activities.
  • Foster tolerance and coexistence through non-formal education, intercultural dialogue, and European citizenship values.

To achieve these goals, AMUSE employs:

  • Non-formal education and inclusive youth work, particularly for marginalised groups.
  • Youth sport work, utilising the “sport for all” methodology to promote inclusion and diversity.
  • Intercultural and inter-religious dialogue, with a focus on non-violent communication and conflict management.

Experience and key activities

AMUSE’s team consists of experienced youth workers, educators, and former professional athletes who have been involved in various youth inclusion, sports, and volunteer projects. Over the years, AMUSE has organised youth sport events and workshops for mainstream youth and young people with fewer opportunities, developed partnerships with local sports clubs, including basketball, football, handball, tennis, martial art, and fitness organisations, as well as conducted training courses and Erasmus+ projects focused on youth sport work, inclusion and diversity.

AMUSE has extensive experience in coordinating and hosting training courses, mobility projects for youth workers, and capacity-building activities. Some examples are:

  • “Intercultural acceptance through sports for all”, 2012
  • “Youth Sports Workers in action”, 2013
  • “Youth in healthy action!”, 2013
  • “Coordinating large-scale youth sport work events for inclusion”, 2015
  • “Strategic partnerships and activities for promotion of youth sport work during the European Week of Sport”, 2015

  • “Youth SPORT work with different abilities’ youngsters”, 2020

Additionally, AMUSE has participated in strategic partnership projects, such as:

  • “Prevention of cyberbullying and peer violence among youth”, 2021
  • “Prevention of youth radicalisation through education and empowerment of youth workers”, 2022

For several years, AMUSE has been actively organising events and workshops to bring together mainstream youth and young people facing various challenges, including disabilities. The organisation collaborates with local public institutions, businesses at local, national, and South East European regional levels, schools, municipal youth centres and sport clubs. These collaborations enable AMUSE to create large-scale youth sports events that promote diversity, inclusion, and social cohesion.

AMUSE has also worked extensively on the inclusion of young women and youth with fewer opportunities in sports. The organisation is committed to developing educational tools and publications that contribute to inclusive youth work.
